Homeless Meal Service In Jeopardy

For the last eight years, Serve Charlotte's Homeless has been a beacon of hope to the homeless community in Charlotte. Every Thursday night, volunteers from around the city gather to provide a hot meal to our homeless friends at a county building uptown. Over the years, the volunteers have developed friendships with our homeless friends.

Sadly, not much has changed in the last eight years, as we see so many familiar faces at the meal service -- Meaning they are still homeless.

With few options to lift these homeless individuals out of homelessness, they rely on the meals and supplies organizations like ours provide for them.

However, the county building where the meal service is held will be sold in 2019, leaving volunteers and homeless individuals alike to worry about the future.

One of SCH's volunteer's shot this video featuring one of our longtime homeless clients. Miami has been homeless off and on for years. Back in 2013 I remember holding his puppy, Ruckus, in my arms.

Ruckus is now a full grown dog who faithfully remains by his homeless owner's side.
